Title: o2em / linux Who has done it ?
Post by: philippe.ventrillon on February 13, 2013, 09:58:53 PM
Hello to every one

I am going to write a page in my blog about emulating videopac under linux. I promised in my latest post. I am asking you to not miss something and to avoid saying stupid things.
So i would be very glad to have feedback and I swear it is for the puropse of sharing the knowledge.

I have set up o2em under linux. I did not find any package for my distro (ubuntu) so i recompiled it.
I saw that there exists some rpm packages.

Do some of you use linux ?
Do some of you use or tried to use this RPM package ? How valuable is it ?

What are the available launchers for linux ? I did not find any so i developped one.

Thanks for any feedback

----
Philippe

Hi Philippe,

My computers at home all run Linux and have been running O2em on them too. Problem is indeed the compiling. Not many recent Linux user would take the time and effort to setup the compile environment anymore. An Ubuntu package would be nice. The latest Windows version of O2em also runs fine with Wine under Linux and Wine is easy to install under Ubuntu.

Thank you gertk

Did you compile o2em yourself ? Or did you use the RPM package ?

And also did you set up a launcher ?

I have started a blog entry explaning how to recompile. As you suggested i am going to make my binary available to download. For the first stage, it will only be a tgz not a .deb.
I also plan to translate this blog entry to english.

The blog explaining how to recompile is there. http://emulvideopac.blogspot.fr/2013/02/en-install-o2em-on-linux-and-recompile-it.html (http://emulvideopac.blogspot.fr/2013/02/en-install-o2em-on-linux-and-recompile-it.html)
As gertk suggested binaries would be a good idea, it also points to a tarball. https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B1FHf4FprWLfamJMSEVMdjNjYzg (https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B1FHf4FprWLfamJMSEVMdjNjYzg)
It is also available in english.

Comment on the post or the tarball are welcome.
