*infomercial voice*

"Are you tired of visiting the same retrofairs with the same sellers?"
"Would you like to be able to do more than just buying stuff at these events?"
"How about an event that recognises there is more to retro gaming than nintendo?"

Well, look no further than Retro event 2013, held on Saturday the 26th of october in Elst (Gelderland), The Netherlands (just across the german border) and get ready for the retroevent of a lifetime!

- Visit our Retro fair with international sellers, ranging from single-tables to large sellers.
- Take yourself or your kids to the museum area with many playable game systems and homecomputers.
- Visit the homebrew area with the largest collection of homebrew available (across all platforms) and talk to the developers.
- Hear famous game developers from back in the day talk about developing games (and/or have them sign your games).
- Enjoy the many new homebrew releases that debut at the event.
- Play the whole Mage Trilogy, including Mage 3 (that won't be out until summer 2014) when the game makes its first public appearance at the show.
- Learn how to build your own arcade cabinet.
- Watch Commodore 8-bit music legend Jeroen Tel perform live on stage!

Sounds amazing doesn't it? Well, it doesn't stop there...

We decided to go just that extra bit of crazy and give away hundreds of euros worth of FREE game consoles, games, accessoires and memorabilia between 16.00 and 17.00. One item per minute for a total of 60 items!!!

So stop what you are doing, get your agenda and plan in your visit to RETRO EVENT 2013 on October 26th, 2013 in Elst(Gelderland), The Netherlands. We already have many people visiting from the UK, Belgium, Germany and Austria, so there is no excuse for not visiting this great event if you are living abroad!

For more information, visit the Retro Event 2013 website at: http://www.retroevent.org (http://www.retroevent.org)

See you in October!!!

  Martijn

Make sure that you know that the Retro Event and Eurocon are two different things.

Eurocon is from friday till Sunday and consist of a group of collectors who meet each year at a different international location. If you want to join for the whole weekend the fee will probably be around €50,00

Retro Event is only on saturday and is a part of Eurocon for this year only. It's like a regular Retrofair but with additions like Q&A and a live performance. And it will last till late in the evening instead of till 16.00 like a regular fair.

I never went to Eurocontrol.
So if I understand well, it is for some collectors.
On the site I did not see any price for entry.

Yes, he also likes Mayhem. And I still love Astrododge ;-)
But my son (and I) got stuck in Mage 2, so I promised him tomorrow we will learn how to play the game properly and then actually are able to finish it.

See you all tomorrow in Elst. I will be there around 10.30.

Great to be able to play mage 3. Also tried martijns other game for the ps3, great shooter, but i 'm bad at playing those game. Also had a nice chat with the developer of c64anabolt and super breadbox for c64. Nice q&a with the boy without brains. Thanks for a nice day.

Indeed it was a great event, shame that I did not bring my earplugs.. Did not want to waste my 'repaired' ears so I went after the first gig of Jeroen Tel.

Also had some great talks. Interest in the multirom is still high but with a bit of luck I can 'outsource' the PCB design  ;-)

You also forget me Martijn :D But I also forgot to look in the forums since then.

I was also there at the Event and it was really great, although I spent a lot more money than I planned. But it was for a good cause :D
Got all the new Homebrew Games and hope to try them out today.

Sadly I missed to play the Mage 3 Prototype :(

Thanks to Robbert and Martijn for organising that great event. Eurocon and Retroevent were superb. The best thing was to meet so many well-known people again and some new faces which I knew from the forums but met for the first time in RL (VideopacBelgium, gertk, ptol, seob, etc.)

I'm glad so many people liked the event.

Hopefully i get to do it again somewhere next year at the same location.
Surely, the eurocon crowd won't be there but hopefully i'm able to convince some of them to come anyways ;-)

I've got many ideas on how to make the event even better than this year (this includes having a voice to talk with ;-) so lets see how that pans out...

For now it is back to working on something-something casual: The first public demo of "Battle-Sub Aquatica" for mobile and playstation vita is in 7 days :S

Thanks for the videos Seob.

But what can I see at the G7400 from Videopac belgium? "Welcome to the NXP/LPC powered Rom+The voice emulator module for Videopac/Jopac+O2 by KGC C 2012"? What is it?

And the game on the right side of this G7400 ? What is that for a game - (also on G7400)?

Yes I was right next to VideopacBelgium! The Rom and Voice emulator is still in prototype stadium but it is quite stable already. It just needs a proper PCB design to get the cost down and some software tweaks. (It now contains a LPCxpresso board with some unneeded hardware) It emulates the ROM to the Videopac in a novel way and the CPU has time left to do Voice emulation too. The games are on a microsdcard and the Voice sound is output on a 3.5mm jack. Ultimate goal is to get the module to emulate the C7420 Basic module and the Chess Module too.

The G7400 next to it has a LCD display (from an old TI laptop) which is running fully synced to the Videochip(s) of the G7400 so it produces a pixel perfect display. Invisible behind the display is another prototype, one of my earlier trials to emulate the C7420 Basic module. It consists of an 100% C7420 compatible rom cartridge which is now not connected to a large box with a Z80 and such but to a mbed module (microcontroller board with LPC cpu) with attached microsdcard for storage of the Basic programs.
At the event it ran my Basic version of a game called 'Fell Swoop' or 'Same Game' and of course the famous Helicopter Demo from the Basic Manual of the C7420

Gert

Many thanks for the explanations Gert.

It is more than impressive what other people can do with the Videopac. I can only play the games  ;:)

It is a pity that Philips donīt know (or donīt want to know) what today is possible and that we all have also in 2013 so much fun with our Videopac/O2. All the new games (also the fantastic C 7060), the great community here in the forum or the Retro Event.

I am happy to be a Videopac owner  :D
