Title: My G7000 has failed after nearly 40 years!
Post by: David Norwood on January 09, 2020, 12:06:50 AM
It was my best Christmas present of 1980 and I've cherished my G7000 Videopac Computer (along with the cartridges, newsletters and the furry Munchkin) ever since.  It had always worked fine, but since just before Christmas 2019 I power it on and just get a dark green screen.  I insert a cartridge but there is no response. :'(
I unscrewed the case and checked inside but there is nothing obviously wrong.

I know this is not a lot to go on and could be any number of problems but any help on troubleshooting would be gratefully received.  I don't want to have to replace it with a raspberry pi!
If anyone can help that would be great.

Hello David,
Your G7000 has a built-in power supply or an external one?
Best.
Marc

Hi, thanks for your reply. It has a built in power supply.  I think I may have left the G7000 plugged in and on for longer than usual before it stopped working.

Sorry for late reply.
Can you check the 5 Volts from the Power Supply to the main board?
Take care ! Some parts of the power supply uses high voltages.

Thanks for your suggestion.  my employer has a quarterly hackathon and I'll try and get someone interested in helping me look at the power supply to the main board of the G7000. They are probably more competent than I am.  Will let you know how I get on.
