Title: KTAA

Kill the Attacking Aliens is this months game.  It is our first "homebrew" game of the month.

I like this game very much. It is one of my favourites. I think it's the game I've played the most. Soeren has done a great job with this one. Due to the fact that it's 12k, it wasn't possible to include it on the 128-game multicart.

That really is a great game. I'd like to register the first high score of 503. Not a tough one to beat as I only got to level 2.

I'd also like it noted that I got a 'perfect' on level 1, do it yourself and you'll see what I mean  ;)

Thanks to Soeren, I really feel that all the bells and whistles were added with this, what with the ability to select plus graphics on or off, the little tunes and the other little 'perfect' touches!

Is Soeren still active in the videopac/odyssey2 community?  He could allready be here for all I know.  If anyone knows him maybe he would be willing to add a little info to our forum?  It would be greatly appreciated!

This game has quickly become one of my favourites.  I have actually gotten very good at it.  I'll post my high score later.  It does get harder once you have cleared the first seven stages and start over.  Your shot/bullett/lazer becomes slower and the enemy stays the same.

I need to buy this game.  I have been eyeballing a lot of the homebrew games and cool Odyssey 2 swag that packrat video game site has.

It's nice to play a game you can quickly improve it.
I just got 1459 with the first two rounds 'perfect'.

Isn't it one of the most technically complex Odyssey 2 game?

26848 is my high score.  I cleared all seven screens 3 times and was on the seventh screen the fourth time around when I ran out of luck.  I think it was the longest single Odyssey2 game I have ever played.

 :o

I better get practicing!

EDIT:
I want to add to this:

 - It is interesting that a homebrew has been quoted as "I think it was the longest single Odyssey2 game I have ever played.".
 - This game has an option for shield regeneration among other things.
 - Maybe rather than just plus backgrounds we should suggest possible modifications to scoring and life/recharge changes to existing games.
 - More modern game concepts might be back portable to the o2/VP?

Any ideas/comments? Feel free to say anything, there are no bad ideas in game creation and modification, just ideas that might work and might create thought that spawns other ideas.

The shield regeneration is a key part of being able to last so long.  Maybe a harder level would start you out on level 2?  Or an option that eliminates shield regeneration? Or change it so if you get hit your done (hint- taking one for the team can help you achieve those perfect scores so long as you have enough life left).

I personally like the game the way it is because I CAN play it for a long time (usually).  It's a nice change from the typical 2-5 minute games.

Sorry I should have made myself clearer, yes this game is great just the way it is, I meant that maybe it would be possible to modify the scoring on existing videopacs to make the games last longer.

I not sure, but I think to make just graphics on an existent game is easiest, but change the game itself could be complex, better spend time on new games creation.

What concepts, for example? Most of modern game are just an update on old game.

I do.

However I must say that I only played it one or two times, and another two or three times on the emulator. I think the game is really great technically, for sure one of the most complex Videopac games. However, I don't like the game itself to be honest. I even don't know why, maybe it's too hectic for me, I'm an old man, LOL. But probably that's just me and I have to "get in" the game, I should give it another try ...

I do too, but I don't need it to play the game, I use my Game Collection Module for that.  ;D
