Title: Crazy Horses
Post by: ANDYRYALS on November 05, 2008, 10:43:18 AM
OK, I have been bugged bugged bugged about this thing so just a few things to answer a few questions!

Crazy Horses orginated in Belgium it was found in a large box of copied Phillips games and prototypes (George i believe you have a picture for the prototype section of your webpage!). This collection was offered to me by a collector who wished to raise funds and thought that I might be interested as i collect prototypes. The deal was done early this year. I believe it to be unique, the other EPROMS in the collection were nothing like Crazy Horsese. Finally, i will be getting the Crazy Horses EPROM up and ready for sale just after Robot City, which I hope will be done for the end of the year, MAYBE MY XMAS PRESSIE TO YOU ALL???....???? And no (Izzie!!) I'm not selling it!!!

You will get more info about what Crazy Horses is, what it looks like and a few other bits and pieces near to release. There I hope that this answers a few questions......

Just how crazy are these horses?

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: grgh on November 06, 2008, 07:56:38 AM
Are they as crazy as the cat in videopac 47 The Mousing Cat? I always thought that cat was a bit crazy, I think it was the over sized head.

Is it a Western style game like Showdown in 2100 A.D. ?

Is it about preventing your horses being infected by cows?  ;)

If it's about feeding a bunch of crazy horses without getting stomped or kicked, I do the live-action version of that every weekend:

Hehe.  Is it a violent game??  Or does it have something to do with processing horses into glue for Odyssey 2 style boxes?

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: grgh on November 07, 2008, 04:16:43 AM
haha, horses into glue! I can picture that as a videopac game  >:D

Title: Re: Crazy Horses

maybe it's called crazy horses because they tried a new trick like reversing controls.
Imagine a game where when u push left on your controller and on screen your character will go right. Up is down and do on.
Or maybe i just hold my joystick upside down.
I would say it's some kind of horse racing game.

I was just wondering if the "Crazy Horses" eprom might just be a badly readable "Crazy Chase"...

Nope it clearly states Crazy Horses on the Eprom!!

I second that ... we have seen lots of "prototypes" with all kind of stupid names on stickers that were just the standard games with whatever people saw on the screen ... and with the ultra-realistic gfx of the early 80's its easy to see a horse in a spaceship or a tree :)

are we ever going to actually get to see any screen shots or is it going to go the same way as sherlock homes and only the select few will ever get to see it or hear about it

i think weve waited long enough now

for being such a small group of collector we seem to not be able to share our toys with others

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: Sweersa on January 17, 2010, 05:31:08 AM
Hopefully they surface properly in the near future.  This isn't nearly as bad as the Guns N' Roses hoarders who have multiple albums worth of unreleased material and never share.

I am sure the time waiting will be well worth it when these games come out.

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: list on January 17, 2010, 10:05:35 AM
the point im makeing is
whats the point of telling everyone you have an eprom of a new game that absolutelly no one else has , when quite frankly it could just be a variation of an allready released game
who knows ????

all i would like is a pic nothing more, nothing less
aint asking for a game dump to appear
no one can steal a pic and place it on a cart and release it as their own

i cant see what harm a single pic could hurt anyone

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: steelballs on January 17, 2010, 10:21:19 AM
I agree with List 100%, why all the mystery ???

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: grgh on January 17, 2010, 03:56:30 PM
I take it you mean a screen print picture of the game rather than just a picture of the cart?

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: list on January 17, 2010, 04:25:51 PM
thats a very profound question indeed ???
of course i mean a screen pic
why would i want anything else
what would we get out of looking at a pic of a cart or a pic of an eprom
how would that benifit us as to the nature of the game

yes a screen pic plz
it isnt too much to ask for

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: VideopacBelgium on January 17, 2010, 04:29:49 PM
Yes! I would like to see a screen pic of this mystery game too. Thanks.

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: Rafael on January 17, 2010, 09:07:31 PM
I also agree with List, I remember when Tuthankam was discovered in very few weeks we could knows about the game, includ a very beatifull map, and later I bought the game, so a pic will not prejudice the sales anyway.

Title: Re: Crazy Horses

I asked because other pics are available, but no worries.

Did you know that most suicides happen around Christmas? I read that yesterday was statistically the most depressing day of the year. It's uphill all the way from here  :-*

Nice optimistic quote there to cheer us up George, not that any of us had any suicidal thoughts of course! ;)

indeed george i did
like page 2 of this very thread

as for your other two profound statements that at no point added to the nature of this thread

Quote
Did you know that most suicides happen around Christmas?
yes i did
and as you might know it was also stated in the movie Gremlins

Quote
I read that yesterday was statistically the most depressing day of the year.
Youll find that today is BLUE MONDAY and statistically the most depressing day of the year

hopefully your stupid comments can cease and we can get back to when will we be able to see a screen shot

I can understand you stopping with videopac, crossed my mind a few times in the last couple of years.

Maybe this all could have been avoided by the owner of crazy horses just giving a straight answer to the question ???

All the best List.

Cant blame me for somebody wanting to stop collecting videopac game. I have stated in the past I will post pictures of Crazy Horses when I'M GOOD AND READY. If people cant wait then its not my problem. That is all I shall say on the subject.

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: steelballs on January 19, 2010, 06:39:48 PM
I didn't blame you for making someone stop collecting Andy, I'm sure he had made his mind up already.

However, I think a lot of the comments in this thread could have been avoided by just answering the initial question posted, even if it meant saying no to a screen shot.

A couple of pointers for your next release as I have seen a Robot City now .Make sure the front cover is large enough to stay in the box when you open it and get someone to proof read the instructions for any errors. I remember saying this to Richard after one of his releases but he just ignored the comment. Maybe some people will see this as nit picking, but when I see what people have to pay for a copy and how much work goes into releasing it then surely it's worth doing it 100%  ???

I don't. Richard's manual of Mission Impossible contained so many errors that I never wanted to buy anything from him again.

hey, give this poor guy credit ... at least his manuals had more than one page and actually fitted the box :)

All criticism taken positively, you can only learn from errors.

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: Seob on January 20, 2010, 06:53:25 PM
Even manuals done buy big companies are not faultless. Just hard to get the sentences right when languages isn't your strongest point.

Title: Re: Crazy Horses
Post by: steelballs on January 20, 2010, 07:37:39 PM
That's why a proof read carried out by someone else wouldn't have done any harm Seob.

I know how hard it is to write in another language so I would never criticise anyone else doing so. However in this case not everyone involved in the release was working in their 2nd language and it's not a lot of text to have to check for any errors.

I didn't mean just simple spelling or grammatical errors. In the manual of Mission Impossible the scoring was completely wrong, and some other descriptions about the gameplay contained errors too. It looked as if the writer hadn't even played the game!

I remember in Route 66 (the original release) it didn't even mention that you can shoot ... which is somewhat the whole point of the game :)

Yes, the game was updated, but the manual wasn't.  :(
It isn't really true that the shooting is the whole point of the game, as the earlier versions were just driving games like Videopac 1.

You'll need to ask Earl Green, he has made it.
