Title: American Football
Post by: RickO2 on September 17, 2007, 09:49:52 PM
The one big downside to the American Football game is that it requires two people to play.  Would it be possbile to make an American Football version 2 that allowed the computer to play if no opponent was present; like the game Gunfighter?  I might be missing something since I'm not a programmer but it seems like it could be done.  It would only require one sprite changing, Quarterback on Offense and Linebacker on Defense, since the rest are on autopilot.  I know this game didn't get a lot of love oversea's but my American friends all loved it.

Just curious...

I would think it would be possible, but would require some good programming, as you'd have to program the computer on how to play (not to well and not too bad). This is not always each to do, especially in a somewhat complicated game.

Maybe the best is made a totally new American Football (and also other sports games). I don?t know but maybe the work to change an existent game to insert adversaries A.I could be the same or more?

Agreed, changing it's much more trouble. Disassembling a ROM and understanding it takes a considerable amount of effort. Also, oldschool assembly code like that is not really position independent, so good luck reordering everything and keeping track of state.
