I was thinking about how I would go about distributing carts
of the games I am working on(if I ever get them worthy).

Im thinking I could just have anyone that wants one, send
me an old cart.

I then disassemble it, remove the old label, put on a new one
and replace the ROM with the new game.

I figure this would be a possible way. This way I only charge you
for the ROM, s&h and a little for my labor.

What do you all think?

Also keep in mind that my games will most likely be at least
4k games.

I think rather than loads of people paying the postage cost to you, it would be easier to win a cheap collection or two on ebay with a good number of 4k carts in it and just increase the price to buyers accordingly.

In the past I've sent boxes of common spare carts for new game production, for just the price of the postage, and I'd be happy to do that again (my loft/garage/cupboards always need the space back  Smiley).

You don't need a 4k cart to put a 4k game in it. Unless you are going to use rare Eproms like the 2564 or the MCM68764, you will need to solder a few extra wires anyway. So 2k carts should be good enough.

Never actually examining an O2 cart, I was looking to use 2764's. Would they work?

When I get to the point of thinking the game can be produced, I'll make a deal with you.
I'll do one better than pay shipping, I'll ship you a peronalized copy. Smiley

Sure, but 2764's have a DIL-28 package, while the O2 ROM's have a DIL-24 package, so you'll need to use wires for +5V, P10 (4k bankswitching) and P11 (8k bankswitching). When using 4k carts you'll need an extra wire for CE to GND.

You'll still need to change the connections for P10 and CE.

If you want to buy new Eprom's, 2732's will be more expensive than 27C64 or 27C256.
