Power state on changing carts
«

Recently I got a G7000/21 and I wondered if the console has to be off when changing carts. Most consoles normally need to. But the G7000 manual I read on videopac.org doesn't mention it. When I read it, it reads more like inserting the cart is the last thing to do. Now I'm just pulling the plug each time I change a cart as I don't want to risk damaging anything and I'm thinking of adding an on/off switch. But If carts are are hot plugable (Which I doubt when looking at the cart contacts) I don't need to.
Can anyone tell me whats the correct procedure ?
Thanks !

Yes it is advisable to turn the power off, although I cant say I ever do.
You could always get a Philips G7400 which has an on/off button:

Got it from a dutch auction site. Good to know it's not rare. So I can go and mod it happily

It's not necessary to turn off the power of the Videopac console when changing carts. That's probably also the reason why most Videopac consoles don't have a power switch. However for the Chess module I would recommend to turn the power off before plugging it in or taking it out.
Strangely enough however the manual of the Magnavox Odyssey2 insists that you turn off the power before removing or inserting a cartridge.
