Is there a tool for converting VG5000 .k7 files back into wave files ?
I have already searched for something usable but so far I did not find it.

Rene: is your bin2wav tool adaptable for the VG5000 ?

Next saturday I'd like to demo some programs on the VG5000 but so far the only programs I have in wave (or even cassette format) are some small things I typed in and the 80 column demo found on the web in .wav format.

Great, I already searched for k7 to wav converter and such but only found a program for another computer which did not generate the right format.

And it seems to work OK with 'wine' too under Ubuntu, will test the generated files tonight.
Now I can (up)load the files from the laptop, copy them to cassette or maybe even burn an audio CD.

Edit: converted all k7 files to wav,, burned them CD and quickly tested Glouton and it works perfectly. Thanks.

Tested some more programs and all is well  Smiley
Maybe this is the first 'cdrom' for the VG5000 I guess  Cheesy

I have a small vintage and very rare Sony (alas..) D-700 CD player which matches size and looks nicely next to the black VG5000. I bought that CD player many many years ago and it still works.

I will create a special cable instead of the original one with the three plugs (as only one plug is needed with the CD)
Tested with the headphone output but even from the line-out it loads without problems.

Loading times surprised me: seems the VG5000 loads at 2400 baud ? So you do not have to wait for ages to load a program. I added some extra silence in between the Helicoptere wav file because of the CD not being paused automatically. Multipart programs like Viking however load perfect in one go. (It really looks exactly the same as Norseman on the G7400 btw)

The joystick module VG5200 needed some contact cleaning but it also works ok now. (WD40 and a toothbrush work miracles)

The original cassettes had two sides: 1200 baud on one side and 2400 baud on the other.
I use an mp3 player to load the VG5000 programs.
