Well.. I could'nt wait and soldered up two adaptors tonight so I can use my G7000 joysticks on my G7400
Thanks!
Will make a few Atari->G7000/G7400 adaptors as soon as I get a Atari joystick or two, and some plugs also

Got my Atari->Videopac (D-SUB9) adaptors made
Bought a Atari joystick & mouse extension cable from eBay...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Joystick-and-Mouse-Extension-Cable-Port-Protector-Saver-Amiga-Atari-ST-C64-SEGA-/271233782341?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item3f26cb1245
I cut both cables in half. Since the extension cable is fully wired, I just re-wired it based on the Atari and Videopac joystick pinouts. Sealed the two cords with Sugru (great stuff btw!) and done... two adaptor cables. Cheap and easy
And with the two G7000->G74000 adaptors I made previously, I can use any Atari compatible joystick with both my Videopac consoles - problem solved.

Those extrension cables are very useful mod cables
I used one of these to make TI99/4A joystickadapter cable so I could use standard joysticks on it (The TI99 has a single DB9 port on which both joysticks are connected through a diode matrix)
