Hopefully the Games forum can also mean the technical aspect of them as well. How does Frogger make music without the Voice add-on, yet Turtles needs the Voice add-on for music?

All my Odyssey2 projects, now in one place!

Frogger uses the VDC (videochip) for it's music, but not in a normal way: the timer of the microcontroller (8048) is used to turn the sound output on and off with the frequency of the notes. The 8048 can only do this if it's not too busy with other things. Of course the timer can not be used then to change the background color or other things.
