Hi all, I'm proud to present you with a new game for the videopac+ console: Munchkin plus. Its a videopac+ version of the infamous Munchkin game. The game will be released in a limited run of 38 copies. All the packaging and production is complete, so the game is ready for shipping very soon. As of today, the game can be preordered/reserved. (paypal only, details will be given once the game is ready to ship). For more information about the game (along with shots of the packaging, screenshots and a movie of the game in action), goto www.revival-studios.com and select "munchkin plus" from the videopac section.

Hi Revival-studio's,
Have you got any indication when the game will be released?
Greetings,

Actually that was my first thought, especially since there is already a Munchkin+. Of course that is the difference with plus games, apart from the box, so I suppose it just comes down to if you like the graphics or not.

I think Martijn thought that Munckin would deserve a release with background graphics too, like Philips did with some of their most successfull games (Race, Cosmic Conflict, Stone Sling, Satellite Attack, Freedom Fighters, Pickaxe Pete).
Space Monster and Munchkin belonged to those games too, so I am wondering why they released both in plus boxes later, but without background graphics.

I like Videopac games with high-res background graphics, so the more Plus games, the better!

I agree, they are nice to look at. The other side is that some of them are worse playable than the non-plus versions. Like Pickaxe Pete - in my opinion the non-plus version (or the plus version on a G7000) plays much better, because the background graphics often "hide" some boulders.

I had that problem with Freedom Fighters, and also Terrahawks, but I agree it is a nice dimension.

From the screen shots I have seen, I really like the "high-res" backgrounds for Smithereens and Cosmic Conflict.

Not wanting to be a damp squib, and certainly not intending any disrespect to the people behind this release, but I'm not sure I'm crazy about the idea of this retooling-into-plus-games business becoming a frequent thing. It's neat to see it on this occasion (and of course, it's easy enough for me to say I'll pass on this one since, naturally, I don't have a console that would show the expanded graphics), but I'd love to see Martijn turn his hand to original O2/VP games, even if it's a plus-only game a la Flash Point that I wouldn't be able to play. I'd rather see new/unreleased material being the focus of everyone's efforts, especially considering some of the amazing Vectrex games that Martijn has published in recent years.
Again, I hope no one takes this as me being disrespectful toward anyone - I'm just hoping that perhaps this is a testing of the waters before embarking on a completely original game.
