Yup, there it is in the forum Arcade: Alien Invaders / Spacemonster. The game is not bug-free yet but it is very playable. Read more here:http://videopac.nl/forum/index.php?topic=652.0

WOO HOO!!!  I beat the Alien Invaders 10-0!  Now let's see how many can join me...

Here is a pointer:
*If you have any blocks left when the alien attacks use them as a shield and peek out on one side and wait for him to pass over it.  Even if he does get a shot off yours will hit him first.

Next I will have to try to conquer the high score on the forum arcade!

Oh heck, I played and beat it after a few tries. Not that tough at all.

However, I still rather like this game. Not sure why, but I do. I just wish it had a score, rather than stopping at a certain point. Maybe someone could do a homebrew modification of this game, making it score points until you loose like three guys!?

I admit too that I like the animation of the big alien at top (I'm too lazy to look up its name right now).  Tongue

Yes, I know it isn't that difficult but it still feels good to win one against the bad guys.  Apparently the american vesion of the space monster is known as the "Merciless Monstroth" and the shields are actually "high density molecular laser shields."  That makes my victory seem even better  Grin

I agree that the animation of the alien/monster/Monstroth is awesome!

Yes, the VG5000 version had a score and it?s makes the game much better.

Whats the matter?  Space Monster got your tongue?  (I suppose the more accurate sang would replace the word "tongue" with "fingers").  I know this isn't a great game but someone has to have a memory or two to share.

I didn't have this game when I was growing up and to be honest I didn't understand it when I first started playing it about a year ago.  Being a man I completly disregarded the directions and thought "how hard can a space invader clone be to figure out"?  Well It took me awhile to figure out that I was in a points competition with the Alien/Space Monster.  I didn't like the fact that the bottom row blocked my shots but now I think it's a nice twist.  After awhile I began to figure out that the Alien/Space Monster has tendancies that can be exploited.  It isn't a difficult game once you play it a few times and I can imagine once I defeated it a dozen times I would have stuck the cart to the back of the box and moved on to other games.

Any links you would like to share?  I would be interested in seeing a screen shot or video of the VG5000 version.

You can try an emulator:

I tried to find some video on Youtube, but there?s no video to this game. Anyway if you want to see other VG5000 videos it?s just to type VG5000 and you can watch some video of other games also relesed to Ody, like Turtles, Norseman, among others.

Looks like I need to shake things up a bit to increase participation.  We are half way through July and only a handful of you have posted, thanks to those that have.

I know the last couple GOTM's haven't been thrilling games, that WILL change next month  Wink

Actually I played this again last night, but I'm absolutely rubbish! I haven't the patience to stay behind the barricades and often find myself losing all three defenses one after the other.

I can confirm that the plus box version is exactly the same as the standard version, but that's no surprise really.

Patience is a key to winning.  When I first started playing this game I was done as soon as I lost the first barricade.  I found out that if I have to lose a barricade the best one's, for me, were on the ends where it always seemed more difficult to shoot around the barricade and hit the bad guys.
