Thanks guys!

Well yes sound is not the best on the O^2 but I would really like
to use a custom GFX/SFX chip. In fact, I may have to take a look
at FPGA and see about updating the current O^2 VDP. So instead of
adding a completely foreign chip to the system, Just employ a more
capable version of the current chip. If I knew what I was doing,
I would give the 8244/8245 a powerful update in FPGA. Here is what
I'd propose for it being updated. It's quite a lot so enjoy and dream
along with me.

This would be compatible with the current chip with these new features.

The 8245EX will add the following features....

See zip file as the system would not allow me to post such a large file.

Do you know that somebody has already made an FPGA conversion of the Videopac/Odyssey2 console?

Yes, Mike J of FPGA arcade. I do have those nets, but it would help if I actually understood
VHDL better than I do. I should e-mail my old friend and ask him about this. Actually if you
look at the specs you will see that the new updated chip would be a combination of the 8245,
6845 and a modified astrocade i/o chip for the sound.

More like dreaming it all. Smiley  I only wish I understood video circutry better than I do. Cry
Otherwise this would have been done already. So would a ton of other projects like a
hardware corrected Tom & Jerry chipset from the Jaguar. A few more registers added
and a little bigger local RAM on each of those processors would make the PXS blush.
