Hi Rick, yeah sure, you open the picture, then on the menu for that:
 - select Image > Rotate & Resize, put new size at say 640x480
 - then File > Save As and make sure you save as type JPG
 - in the next window set Quality = 70 (this sets the quality to 70% and makes a big difference to file size but no real difference to what your eye can pick up, nobody ever told me to use 70% so maybe you can go lower)

I just did this on an existing JPG that was 2123k 2592x1944, the new file is now 49k 640x480. The 'complexity' of a picture makes a difference to how far it will go down in size.

Let me know how you get on.

what size are the photos?

also we could see if the mods could bump up the attachment size

here limits you to 128KB

other forums i post at allow larger sizes

ex:

BYOAC - 1024 KB
AtariAge - 2MB

Thanks grgh.  I'll try it this weekend.  I don't know why I'm having such a hard time with it.  Too much on the brain I suppose.

missioncontrol- The file size is over 2mb.  I'm not sure what limitations janzl has or how much space he is willing to give up for photo's.  As I understand it he's doing this out of the goodness of his heart and not making any money off this site (no annoying ads Smiley) so his resources may be limited.  I'm cool with the smaller file sizes, I'm just frustrated with myself for not being able to figure out the program.  I've shrunk photo's before with our camera's software but I couldn't even get that work right.   Embarrassed

I found ThumbsPlus really easy, I must have been using it for over 10 years, I even went as far as licensing a later version as I do believe in giving credit where credit is due and I use this software A LOT.

Of course I'm not saying its the best, but between it and very simple editing with MS Paint I've always been able to do the things I need to do.

When I get a new machine I usually bung my old version on first to get me going, so I'm still using a version that says copyright 1993-1997, v3.10-S and they now have beta v8, but it works just fine on XP.

No harm done.  I didn't think you meant anything bad about it.  I thought it would be helpful if I shared that info with you.

No offence taken Smiley
Yes server space is limited at the moment. If you could use an alternative space for posting your images and then linking to them you are able to post bigger images.

Imageshack is a good place for it. Very easy to use.

I have found a nice description of the Magnavox vs Atari courtcase considering KC Munchkin vs PacMan.

Thought it might make a nice addition to this months Game of the Month.

Case: Atari v. North American Phillips Consumer Electronics (C) [7th Cir.] 1982

Don't know if you guys already knew this one... but there it is Smiley

OK, I know there are forum members that are a lot more artistically talented than I am.  I want to see the most creative maze!  For those who have never programmed a maze it is VERY simple.  Give it a try even if you don't think you are creative.

As a kid I remember drawing a box around the ghosts.  It was funny but the game did get pretty boring after awhile.

Cheesy Why did I never think of that one.

It reminds me a little of playing "The Sims". When you had a very annoying character walking around you couldn't delete them. So to get rid of them I build a pool. When they started swimming I removed the pool's exit. After a while they drowned  Evil

Hahaha.  I have done this also.  What is even more fun is building a room trapping someone with a fireplace and a plant near by.  It will catch fire and when it does...well...you should be able to figure the rest out. lol

Was released this game in the Netherlands?
In the dutch catalog from 1983 (the one with Terrahawks in the cover) is written "Deze spelcassette is in Nederland niet verkrijgbaar" (but also on games 41 and 44).

Maybe that's because of the legal troubles with Atari?
