So, the shiny paperbox numbered 1 to 13 released in UK were made in USA because my paperbox released in Belgium were made in France.

Just a note to all future developers, this type of case is incompatible with the PCB's that we used in our games, so, if anyone intends using the same PCB's as our, they wont inside these cases, but they can be modified slightly. So, another geeky fact for the day is that the PCB's in this style of case is slightly different to all the others! Ta-Da!!!!

I don't think shiny were released only in the UK?

The matt paperbox (which were also available in the UK) say made in France:

I never seen a VP cart "made in USA" in Europe before this VP5 bought in UK last week.
Maybe the first production of VP games for UK were made in USA?

I am pretty sure its not only for the US, as they are very common in other parts of the world ... infact the Number "2" seems to have seen only a "shiny" made in USA release and no "matt" equivalent ... but apparently that was the first batch of carts, maybe before demand was high enough to produce them in Europe ?

The 'shiny paperbox' which are numbers 1 to 13 seem to have been the first.

The 'matt paperbox' numbers 1 to 26, except 2 & 17, seemed to have been next. The general belief is that number 2 was not a very popular videopac and so the shiny versions never ran out before they went to the plastic cases.

I have two examples that I think are even very early 'shiny paperbox' versions, as the box spines have no game numbers on:

Radiola paperbox and French paperbox 2 are in the matt style with the white down arrow on the cart label:

We'll i've got 3 no.1 shinny and 1 no 2 shinny and they are all made in the usa. My manual that came with one of the no 1 also has "printed in the usa" on the back, but the manual is multi lingual. So i just think the first releases where made in the usa, because they didn't have european factories at that time. Since the videopac was developed by magnavox in the usa. If you check the timeline, you will see that all initial development was done in the usa. http://www.the-nextlevel.com/odyssey2/articles/timeline/index.php
