Hardware / Composite mod, picture too bri...
Last post by mrdremel - March 17, 2024, 09:48:16 AM
Hi all,

Found this site while researching my "issue" with my newly acquired G7400. My G7400 was non-functional. Powersupply broken, switch broken and RF converter non-functional.

I replaced the powersupply with a modern 5/12 volt powersupply. It even fits in the case. I have bypassed the power switch for now and will fix it later. The good news is....I resurrected this dead G7400 :-)

However, the RF converter had such a weak signal that it is useless. I have the Dutch version, so no RGB components.

I tried a direct composite line from the mainboard to my tv. The signal was way too weak, but is working.

I added the Atari 2600 composite mod. I now have picture, but it is so strong that it is too bright and the colors are not clear enough.

Question:
Can I add a resistor to the output line to make it a little bit weaker? I can solder and tweak just fine, but have too limited electronics knowledge. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I would like to point out a podcast I found on Atariage.

I find it very interesting and I don't think anything has been posted here.

Since it's all about the European Videopac, this is the right place for it.

Have fun listening.

I am interested in a quote of 100 Odyssey2 style cartridges. To my knowledge, there are no special specific large printed circuit board games. I believe SID THE SPELLBINDER and NIMBLE NUMBERS NED have a slightly larger than normal printed circuit board, but it fits inside a standard Odyssey2 cartridge casing.

The character somehow triggers the names Teddy or Ted in my brain. Don't know why, though.
Maybe because Ted is red :)

Or Robby ( short for Red Robot )

Beep Boop :)

Quote from: cjherr on March 14, 2024, 03:51:59 PMMarc,

What is the difference between the O2 and Videopac versions? Are they "hard wired" to talk to different servers (Brazil/Europe) thereby requiring one for each library, or will they both do exactly the same thing?

-Chris
Hello, I ask Marc for permission to respond... In fact, the cartridge is the same, but at the beginning of the configuration you choose the region, in this case EUROPE for the VideoPac Vault version, but you can reset the configuration and do it again for the Brazil or United States region... Remembering that all games that are in the Brazil or United States region will also be available for the European region...
