Text Adventure

Has anybody of you ever thought about making a text adventure? Plain text, no graphics, nothing. Wouldn't the Odyssey be just perfect for that? Well, maybe it wouldn't - are there any issues with storing text informations?

I don't know how much text you need for a text adventure game, but text requires a lot of ROM space, considering the fact that a normal cartridge is not larger than 8k.

The maximum number of characters you can display on the screen at the same time is approximately 128 (8 lines of 16 characters).

Some time ago I was trying a text adventure (with some images), but I decided to abort it first because I was havin some problem with it and second because I think it will have not much replay value. So I decided use the creatures created for it in a better world. You can check it here (rom available until 10/26):

I started a text adventure back in 1984 for the C7420. I think it was about 2/3 completed.

Rafael, I found the title screens and two characters, a pink bear and some cowboy guy. Is there more to discover?

Dieter, finish that text adventure. Or why don't you at least publish the script for it here?

They?re O2 blocks, is just to change, line by line, the background and grid color. You start with black and blue and after blue and black, etc.

Yes, it was in German. It must be on one of my compact cassettes. I'll take a look after Eurocon.
