First memories of the VideoPac is playing Pick Axe Pete and Satellite Attack over at a schoolmate's. He also had the ZX81 with thermo printer, splendid! I came from the Atari VCS corner, moving up from a cartridge based Soundic. Never had the VP as child but began collecting its games in the 90s along with the other 8-bitters.

Collecting milestones:
- finishing the complete VideoPac collection up to #60 before my die-hard collector friend ccc---  ;D
- watching my die-hard collector friend manopac NOT finishing and releasing his fantastic grid-based game  ;D
- winning a boxed Kinder im Verkehr VideoPac Console for a good price at the auction at EuroCon in The Hague with only my die-hard collector friend ccc--- bidding the price up, so that I didn't get it even cheaper  :P

Nice stories from the Austrian armada :) hopefully more of those will come up  :)
I just wonder why you AtariBuff as a busy collector ain't be that active in this forum as your mates?

manopac

that's because until now he didn't even know how to spell videopac ... thus he wasn't able to get to the forum ...

@Partyicebear
I took a break in collecting 8-bitters shortly after I signed up here to finish another project. However, that didn't spare me personal contact with ccc--- and manopac like six times a year  :'(

Watch this space for more Austrian gossip  ;)

Janzl

Yes yes, it's Austrian gossip time!

Thanks for listening!

My first Odyssey 2/Videopac experience was in the mid to late '90s. My mom was driving me to my aunt's house and on the way she was telling me of a new video game system she bought for very cheap at a garage sale.  My mom was describing the racing and tank game, and I was getting really excited for it.

When I finally got behind the controllers I must admit, the graphics were not as fancy as the other games I had experience with at the time, but I set that aside, and played them anyways.  We had a blast!  Alien Invaders - Plus! and Baseball! were my favorites then.  We only had a handful of cartridges. My aunt purchased an N64 around that time, so we would play both.  I have great memories  of both systems.  The system went to my grandma after my cousins moved out of states so myself, my cousins, and my brother would play it at grandma's house.  Then we all grew up, and she was about to put it in her garage sale!  Thankfully, she let me take it home.  I still have that console, but over the years it has needed a good motherboard cleaning, both joysticks had to be replaced, and I even replaced part of the outer shell from a console that didn't work, but was in better shape in the outside.  Now it's running as good as the 5 other working consoles I have!

The Odyssey 2 is far out of my generation, but due to this experience, it is a significant part of my life and I like to play the console to this day because of the nostalgic value, the community behind it, and it's just a fun console! I can easily spend hours on the Odyssey 2, and I don't even have a multicart yet!
