OOps! They did it again.  :)

In the last issue from the german Retro Gamer, they printed my mail and they did it again. Marc (VideopacBelgium) was the first person, who noticed that. Thanks for the info.

I ask, why they didn`t test homebrew games. I my opinion, very interesting for each system. This year, we had and we get, wonderful games for our Videopac G7000/G7400. For example, ,,Forbidden Lands" from Rafael Cardoso.

I also send a screenshot of the game and the adress where you can get it (VideopacBelgium, www.videopac.fr), but this were not printed.

They answer, that they really rarely publish something about homebrew games. Only a few people are interested in all systems. Some of them read maybe an article about a system like Videopac G7000, but they were not interested to read something about homebrew games for it. That`s the same for every system. That were only interesting for pepople who own that system. Maybe, they will make an article about homebrew games in the future.

In my personel opinion, they are wrong. I were happy, to read something about homebrew games also for other retro consoles/computer. I mean, that homebrew games bring back the life to our retro systems. And we could see, what`s now possible. For example ,,Defender of the Crown" for Intellivision.

Maybe I must write another mail.   :D

I really admire these gestures .You always comes carrying the "flag ODYSSEY" below, for all, with great dedication. We know it is not merely a free advertisement, but real love for the console. Congratulations! 8)

Interesting you mentioned "Defender of The Crown" As player, I really like strategy games, but I never played DOTC before. I´ve been watching some videos of this game
since I knew about the works on Intv. But I could not understand it entirely. It didnt seem so rich, could the Odyssey make a version of this game ??? ???

Thanks for your kind words, Rafael. I try, to do my best, that my beloved Videopac system will not be forgotten here in Germany.
In the eighties, you could buy in every store Videopac consoles and software. The same was, when we are in holidays in France. Also there: everywhere Videopac. And now the Retro Gamer to give the impression, that our Videopac is something strange. And this I want to change a little bit.

Yes, I like my Jopac..... love....?... Yes!   But we are not sleeping in one bed!   :D

I love this game. I played it in the past with my Amiga. Hours and hours.

Much later, I saw, that you could buy it for PC, as a retro game from Cinemaware. And after so many years, it`s a wonderful game. When I noticed, that they will bring it for Intellivision, I followed it at atariage. They could be happy to get it. Till now it looks really good.

DOTC for Videopac? That were funny. But, for me, one of the most important things of the game, was also the music. I love they and have the soudtrack till now on my PC. And you know, music is something difficult for Videopac... but maybe with The Voice  ???

I not sure, but sometimes Voice music don´t sounds so good (or maybe it´s me)
I tried on Happy Bird and Forbidden Lands (Chicken Dance and Unfinished Symphony) But it was annoying after few minutes.
Checking the video it seems the music only is played in static scenes???? I not sure but who knows. We have here a specialist in music
with extensive experience in robotic strategic battles. ;:)

Tom Beck

Maybe you are right with the Voice. And you are again right, that Ted could help here.

DOTC use many static scenes. And there we are at the next point. Also the gfx with different screens is important.

And that´s the next problem. Maybe we could use simple gfx for every screen.

Is it possible to use more than one Videopac+ gfx in one game?

Or much better: Defender of the Crown would be your first Videopac+ only game.  :)

Oh, I forgot, that we have already a "Defender of the Crown" game for Videopac. See pic  :o

Ok, only the part with the catapult, but our game is much more fun, than the catapult scene at Amiga.  :D

Especially the Videopac+ version with "The Voice"! And in my opinion, it look really good at Videopac+. 8)

That´s true.
This Amiga scene is very similar to Stone Sling cover.
