We have previously discussed the existence of the Japanese market:

Quote from: grghMaurice also mentions the rumoured Japanese console in his videopac list...

And, since we're on the subject, is there anyone who can give me ANY
information on the (supposedly called) "Kotoon", Japanese Videopac machine ?
Better yet, a real life example of it, to show off in my gameroom, sounds
  like a good idea :-)

Well I found this so thought I would share it, as it mentions the company is actually called "Koton" and shows you how to write it in Japanese  :)

Quote
The Odyssey? was released in Japan in December 1982 by Kōton Trading Toitarii Enterprise (コートン・トレーディング・トイタリー・エンタープライズ, a division of DINGU company) under the name オデッセイ2 (odessei2). "Japanese" versions of the Odyssey? and its games consisted of the American boxes with katakana stickers on them and cheaply printed black-and-white Japanese manuals. The initial price for the console was ?49,800. It was apparently not very successful; Japanese Odyssey? items are now very difficult to find.

Found some search info for Japanese games:

Only looked at the first page of the thread though.

http://www.shoppingmalljapan.com/ (can't find the right way to search with this one)

Anyway didn't get any further than that, and although I followed a number of links I never source a collectors website in Japan or any actual pictures.

Another dead end ???

I may have one or two of those games, not sure. I know some other people on the board have some. In any case, I checked my ol' drawer-of-paperware and found this:

That certainly looks like it fits with the description:

It looks as though Magnavox/Philips didn't even bother to rebadge the Japanesse version:

Disappointing  :(

I do have a couple of Japanesse games.  As mentioned before they are simply American versions with japanesse stickers placed over the name on the end and a cheap paper instruction manual inserted inside.  These are incredibly hard to find.

ANDYRYALS

Well I have never ever ever seen a Japanese game up for sale yet and I check EVERY day for new stuff to buy that is how rare they are and if Maurice only has a few things then they must be rare I think that all the Japanese stuff would probably have a Ultra Rare+  rating.

I must admit to not keep a close eye on US Magnavox O2 stuff anymore, but I think it's been a while that they've been on auction. They seem to be rare as hens teeth, but I think that understandable. The Koton (Ah, so not "Kotoon"!) did very bad in Japan, and we're looking at US auctions.... What we see -IF we see anything- is what was actually meant for Japan but happened to stick in the US for some reason.

I only ever found one (1) website from a Japanese person with some pics and information. It was like RickO2 said, "nothing special".

Some picture I found on my harddics (not my game)

ANDYRYALS

OK I just thought you were taking the piss trying to be cool and post all your super rare Japanese stuff, we are all really envious because we aint got any  ;)

I know for a fact that some of the people here have a couple of those... I'm just not telling who :-p

I really don't know if I have any, I could only find the loose manual (two actually) of which I made a picture earlier today.

Most list are updated now.
I am busy to complete the US versions, there are two types of games: with magnavox and without.
Is there somewhere a list where I can see all the differences of US games.
Get also today a "new" brochure.

There is a banner of the next retro-meeting, where I have a booth.

and lots of new privat pictures of my two daughters.

Sweersa

I know this is off topic but I see someone here said "taking the piss."

I live in America and I am not sure what that means.

It means trying to annoy or upset someone,  trying to wind someone up

You don't have to be mad, but it helps.
