Not to sound mean or anything but I hate the VGA. They're just a scam to raise prices and earn a lot of money doing so.
By whom are they authorized? Who says they are the authority on videogames and there prices? The only people who claim they are the authority are the VGA themselves, and their prices are ridiculous.
Avoid the VGA as they ruïn our hobby to enrich themselves.

Yes, I think the same as you. Self-proclaimed authority. It is my first and my last.

Yes it works and that is why I hate them. They are artificially raising the prices and people are falling for it. They are ruining the hobby.

I am 100 % with Robbert. I would never buy a VGA rated game. Why should I pay five times the regular price of a game just because it is VGA rated?

Wish I had seen that. Great price for that rare gem. Still looking for it myself.

I tend to avoid dragging things up - sorry. Still a lot I have not read yet.
VGA is something I have only just heard about though. At first I was a little shocked, but it makes sense.
I think I see the benefit for having a valuation on the quality/condition of a game especially when it is a key piece in your collection. Also having something that states it has been inspected and confirmed as not a fake is probably a good investment. When some of these items are 100years old, who knows how the market will look. I already find gaming items at my local antiques dealer.
Setting a price doesn't seem wise though. In some cases it might even hinder the value. Especially as some items have their rarity decreased because numbers are confirmed ... perhaps?
Nathan.

The value for a game is always a guess. It's mostly defined by the current prices for which they are sold. You just have to invest time to find out what the current value's are. The VGA's "gradings" are absurd, they are far from realistic and they are (as I have stated many times before) artificially raising the value's. I hate the VGA. There can be said something about evaluating if the game is still in working condition, but then again, the way the VGA connects a value to a working item is ridiculous. Oh and did I tell you that I hate the VGA? Just to make sure: I hate the VGA
