canoeing

I got bored, so I began work on a new game. You never know if an idea you thought up is good enough for a game. This one is about a canoe. It took a few hours to get to this point.

Basically the game is a cross between the Atari 2600 game "Raft Rider" and the arcade game "Toobin'." You control a guy in a canoe. Your job is to steer your canoe to avoid obstacles and pick up stuff. The joystick up or down controls your y movement, and pressing the action button moves your canoe forward.

Thoughts?

Nice start. At this point, it almost has an "endless runner" feel, but I can see it taking on the Raft Rider/Toobin' path as well. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Apparently I can't use custom sounds AND make the background more than one color at the same time. Since the game relies on the background colors, the custom sounds had to go. Once I did it started working good on my Odyssey² (it hadn't before.)

I've been working on this a lot recently. Here are some screenshots from the game.
I'm thinking of "Can You Canoe?" as a title.

Just try it a little and I really like the concept! I like dodging game generally.
And with the two screenshots you have shown, I think Can you Canoe? will be a future hit on O2/VP systems! Keep up the good work Chris.
Suggest: I think you have to study with accuracy the rhythm, the progressing of the gam to make i really enjoyable.

This gave me the urge to see if I could actually finish the game. I had given up on it. So four hours later, I have finished it. The game has 5 rivers: Mississippi, Nile, Yukon, Moon, and Amazon. There is not room enough for a sixth.

Can you indicate me when the level changes? I have passed more than 100 points but it is always the same level. Do I have to do something different than avoiding the obstacles and catch item?

I really appreciate this new rom. The different levels are well made. I think the concept is really good but need some adjustments to offer a better experience in gameplay and pleasure.
