Just looking at the screen tonight, I was wondering if something like this game would be possible on the O2 using the internal character set and grid for the maze, as well as the radar section with dots...

Jim

Given the O2's strength with maze games I always thought Wizard of Wor would good port for the O2.

I would love to see a conversion for the Videopac!!

Agreed! That would be fantastic.

Chris!

I need a new Odyssey 2 project to work on. I was extremely bored, so I made a new mockup since I think the last one was on my old dead computer. In this one, you can move the guy around the maze. I've never played Wizard of Wor, so I'm not exactly sure how it plays, or if it can even be done. But this alleviated my boredom for now, so here.

Chris!

Just played Wizard of Wor on the Atari 2600. It seems doable, but my take would be a little different. Instead of the guy moving in a KC Munchkin-like way, the wizard would move a lot like Jack does in the castle in my Jack and the Beanstalk (like my attached ROM in the previous post). The final boss in the level wouldn't get invisible (not only because there wouldn't be a radar part, but because it's mean to the player, and it's how I usually die anyway.) And other similar things. So, should I continue?

I always like the excitement of the disappearing boss (wizard?), but that would be tough without a radar.  Why can't there be a radar?  Is the Odyssey's resolution too low or is there simply not enough power to run the main game and radar all at once?

Chris!

I wouldn't know how to program the radar.
I updated the demo, now your guy can shoot.

Chris!

I tried making radar but then I realized it would be way more code than I expected, so I'll have to get rid of it.

Woke up at 11:30pm, couldn't go back to sleep, decided to work on the game some more. I now call it Dynamorb. But I had to get rid of diagonal movement since it was causing me trouble.

I have to give up on this. It's being a stupid jerk and not cooperating. I've posted the code I have. Feel free to use it and finish the game. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing.  Your variable and function names are entertaining.  :)

WoW is also well known for its speech ;)
By the way what about Archon? There's a 3.5 KB VIC20 port!
