I know originally Videopac.nl was supposed to be temporary.  But after a while, and now knowing how secure this board is compared to the old board (I don't think we heard an explanation from Richard as to why his board was taken down for so long), it seems we have all stuck to this one.  However, some activity still occurs at Videopac.org.

I personally love the look, feel, and everything about Videopac.nl.  I remember people discussed not wanting to have two forums.  So are we just going to ditch Videopac.org?

What do you guys think?  What are we going to do?

I think we should keep Videopac.org at least for the information that is in it.
And I don't mind checking two forums.

Sometimes new members find Videopac.org sooner than Videopac.nl, so when I see a new member at Videopac.org who is serious (no spammers or someone who only wants to know how much an O2 is worth because he wants to sell it), I invite him to come to Videopac.nl. Since there is much more activity on Videopac.nl than on Videopac.org, most of the times it means that the silence will return soon on Videopac.org.

Yeah, I agee, Videopac.org is full of information, that in someways is collective and very useful.

WaxyChicken

I found this site & forum through the VideoPac.org forum.

The board should be kept for that if for no other reason.
if nothing else, use it a blatant redirection.
I'm a pain in the butt guy who asks millions of questions because I want to learn EVERYTHING.  When was it made?  what if you drop it in soda?  Can it melt? Will it run on beer?  Is it friendly to poulty? If you invert it, will it run code backwords?  Do the trees moving make the wind blow?

Did the owner of Videopac.org (Richard?)  ever say why it went off line for so long?

Has anyone been able to contact him?

Thanks.  Wow, I just noticed my random Freedom Fighters post...I think I must have replied to the wrong thread or something, lol.

I think it a bit unfair for anyone to expect folk to hang around twittling thier
thumbs waiting on a Forum, when one could be available.

Sounds like a lame reason to shut the place down. Why not join
forces?

ANDYRYALS

We have been trying to keep all the sites open and promote Videopac community harmony, I'm glad videopac.org is here again, we should all be working togther again!

Me too.

Richard has removed a lot a spam messages recently.

Richard just needs to set the site to not auto-activate accounts. I always did that when I ran a phpbb forum. Guess he just doesn't like it that way, but it stops the spammer from spamming - if setup correctly.

As for promoting harmony, well...  I still would prefer one forum. I mean, would you like if I opened up an O2 forum. I won't, because this site is here, and I don't see it going away because Janzl gets bored once in a while. Sorry to say it, but that it the truth of the matter.

And yes, I've been on the old forum, but the damn thing never auto-logs me in (and it is not a cookie issue). I've given up on that. I hate signing in manually each time, and not having new message highlighted. This site here has never given me problems.

Ah, enough though. I really shouldn't even bother posting. It will just piss some off, and others will agree. Same at it was when this whole thing got started.

You can also add a CAPTCHA before registering and close the forum only to registered users. That's what I did in my website.

Gorf

I hate those stupid CAPTCHA things....but I guess if it keeps
things orderly.......
