Guys, many apologies for not getting this thing off the ground in 2008, I had every intention but it just never materialised.  I now think that the vast numbers of VP collecters are here in this forum so I think we stand the best chance of getting every prototype documented. What I'm proposing is to produce THE most up-to-date list of Prototypes around. So once again I'm calling for anyone that has a prototype to get in contact or if you want to remain anonymous send me a PM. I would like to document them all!! As time goes by I will start to trawl the internet sites but it will only be a spare time thing so the list will take some time to evolve.

By prototype, do you mean never released games or every cartridge that doesn't look like a regular factory-made Videopac/Odyssey2 cart?

I suppose this is a list of carts that are "suspected" to be prototypes or modifed carts that never went into the public domain (i.e. Phillips employee's developers carts / copies etc). Perhaps the title is a little misleading and needs better definition, but this is what this thread is about. I know you have some o3 stuff so can you list them, and also any other carts which you may be feel worth mentioning??

Thanks Rene!!

This is my list of prototypes:

- Sherlock Holmes(Odyssey 2)
- K.C. Munchkin(Odyssey 2, Advance copy)
- Air Battle(Videopac, no Plus graphics)
- Requins(Jopac, Shark Hunter)
- Baseball(Odyssey 3)
- Attack of the Timelord(Odyssey 3)
- Flash Point(Odyssey 3)
- Modem Program(Odyssey 3)

Most of them are on this picture: http://www.ozyr.com/rene/PICS/proto_carts.jpg

I've got Norseman & Blobbers, I believe these are genuine protos as they were given to someone who was writing video game reviews at the time. I'm still working on the page so I haven't announced it yet:

They came from the superstijl collection:

I've also got a chip reader from the US that came with a videopac game that I've forgotten right now...

I have Flash Point, Baseball, Pick Axe Pete, Freedom Fighters, Time Lords (Attack Of The Time Lord) and the Modem Terminal Program, all for the O3. But those are for sure no real prototypes, but probably development carts or copies.

Dieter,

Do you know of anyone else that has a copy of Pick Axe Pete, Freedom Fighters, or Attack of Time lords, Rene dosen't have a copy of these o3 specific games, you could be sitting on 3 original proto's ??? ???

Well, I don't know anyone who has those games, but when I look at the lables - those are no official prototypes, because they used O2 carts and ripped the labels of, or just wrote the new title with a marker on the old label.

Have to dig them out to take photos.

ANDYRYALS

Well if no-one else has a copy I would say that they rank a good chance of them being prototypes! Some of the American prototypes have labels which state "Advanced Copy", I think that this is probably Phillips giving copies to Computer stores and maybe magazine reviewers, this was popular practice by Atari in the USA, and all the "advanced copy" labels seem to be for american released games. I think Europe doesn't have this label variation and it's more common just to write the name of the program on the cart or have a simple "typed" label which is stuck to the front of the cart.  As for pictures, PLEASE dig them out!! I will be possibly having a venture into my attic to dig my stuff out, so I should be able to add another 20-30 prototypes to the list....

Hope this helps!!!
